🎯 Nailing Product Creation

Hey hey Reader!

I'm coming into your box today before we get hit with Hurricane Idalia because I did something this week that made me think of you.

All last week I was feeling like absolute garbage. I'm going through a medication change that needs to be done slowly and apparently the drugs that were being switched in and out amplify each other's effects. What that translates to is me feeling awful for about 4 days.

So I had to play catch up for a little bit and as I started to feel overwhelmed, I had to stop for a break to just do something fun (see I don't just tell YOU to do that, I actually do it myself).

I ended up taking some of the art I created for the Holiday Design Pack I'm gifting those in the MIH Event and creating the Halloween Printable Boo Kit below. (Check it out the Etsy listing here and feel free to give it some love!)

So I did this because I needed a break, but also because I wanted to use my resources and time how long it took me to create a product, delivery files, mock ups, write a description, and get it listed on Etsy.

That's what we're doing in the Making It Happen group and I'm going to go live in there to go over this, but I wanted to tell you the results of this little experiment.

Here's what I did along with the times that it took:

Researching the Product - 1.5 hours ( includes requesting feedback from neighbors that might use the product)
Designing the Product - 3 hours (I used the Halloween Art from the Holiday Design Pack)
Creating Delivery Files - 1 hour
Creating Mock Up Files - 1 hour (used my Product Mock Up Kit)
Doing some basic Etsy keyword research - 30 minutes
Writing a Description - 30 minutes
Listing Product on Etsy - 30 minutes

All in, it took me 8 hours and I got a pretty cute product up in a day (spread out over two because I started the night before).

This is real life stuff. Using art and templates can seriously cut down the time you need to create.

If I didn't have the artwork from my Holiday Design Pack or the Product Mock Up Kit template, I'd still be working on this today as it would have added likely another 3-5 hours making art to use and another 1-3 hours for mock ups.

So why am I telling you all this?

Two reasons:

  1. I made the Holiday Design Pack available just now because it's actually REALLY good. I didn't plan to make it as good as it came out. I actually got carried away illustrating and so it's now packed with 824 files for you to use. I originally set out to make a $27 design pack but this is at least an $80 design pack with all the stuff I put in it. I'm pricing it at $37 for now so you can grab art for all the holidays coming up and get that step taken care of.

  2. Because the Creative Spark Summit registration is open and digital products for the holidays are our focus. So there's no better place for you to hang out for 3 days if you're looking for help, inspiration, strategies, support, encouragement, or just plain geeking out over digital products.

So, are you registered for the summit and ready to start making your holiday products for this season?

Whether you're using the Holiday Design Pack or not, start planning what you're going to make and have a look at the line up of speakers and presentations we have ready for you. There's lots of awesome products you can make and wonderful strategies for you to try to get them sold.

Can't wait to see you there!

xx
