Hello Reader, I've been thinking about you all week, sweet friend! But the days have gotten away from me and I can't believe it's Friday already! There's LOTS and lots to tell you. So let's get started! If you've forgotten what this email is about, let me remind you... I struggle with consistency just like the next person (maybe even more thanks to my ADHD) but I'm going to show you what I do in a week. We do this in the Creative Lab each Monday and it really sets us up for the week. My hope is that you'll feel like you're here with me, sharing in all the things I'm discovering. Most of all, I hope that it'll inspire you to do your own creative work, because adding beautiful things to the world is so gratifying! What I've worked on this weekRepurposing ArtI decided to repurpose some older, Spring art as Autumn/Fall and I did it so fast, I knew I had to show everyone in the Creative Lab my exact process. The photo above is a screenshot from a new color palette I worked on live in the class. We picked colors live based on the suggestions from the Creative Brief, reworked existing patterns, and created a cover for a Gratitude Journal (the focus product for this month's Brief) all in under an hour. Now I have 3 products ready to upload to my regular channels like Zazzle and Etsy. Repurposing ProductsBecause I was very happy with how the art turned out, I started using it to make other products. Having created products already, I've designed SOPs with the steps I take (with linked templates I've created) to speed up the process. And to keep the momentum going, I use the same tool that I've told you about, Product Spark, to make sure setting up a listing doesn't stop me in my tracks. I timed myself so I could tell you exactly how long it took to get the listing written for the watch faces, and I'm happy to report that it took 3 minutes and another 5 to get it up on Etsy! That means that all in, the Fall Watch Faces were done in about a half hour (art, mock ups, and all) and the Gratitude Journal was done in about 15 minutes. Can't beat that! Repurposing FabricStill in the spirit of Fall, I decided to take an old set of fabric from last year's Plum Woods Collection and make a matching wallet for the purse I made last year. Full transparency—I've been working on this one for a little while, there were tons of steps and I still have to get another tool to get the snap working properly because the fabric was quite thick. All in all though, I'm very happy with it and can't wait to use it with my purse! Repurposing DiscardFinally, I'm finding all sorts of ways of repurposing my sourdough discard and my favorite this week was as 2 hour discard bread. Traditional sourdough usually takes at least 2 days to make, from feeding your starter if it's not active, to then actually making the dough and letting it proof overnight. So it was nice to find a recipe to make a 2 hour bread... well 3 hours with baking time. How cute is that little guy? As you can see, I can't ever stop making... all sorts of stuff. So now it's your turn, what did you do this week? Hit reply and tell me all about it, photos and all. You know I read each and everyone. Till the next update,
ps. I only want to share this with people who are genuinely interested, so if you're not interested in this series, just click here and you won't get these emails. No hard feelings. ps. There's something coming up that I'm going to tell you more about, but in the meantime, if you're absolutely nosy like me, it's called the Collab & Connect Summit and it's all about showing you exactly how to grow your audience, visibility, and revenue with collabs which is so much more fun than going solo. So click here if you want more info! |
