💛 A Personal Journey & Exciting Updates Inside

Hey there Reader!

This is a long email, just going to tell you right away. So grab a coffee and tuck in!

But first, I need to be honest with you about something.

September didn't go the way I planned.

I was supposed to spend all of September telling you about the exciting changes coming to Creative Briefs—specifically, a price increase starting October 1st. I had emails drafted, content I was excited working on, and a whole plan to showcase the new Challenge Breakdown feature that makes the Briefs even more valuable.

But life had other plans.

On September 4th, I was diagnosed with Lupus.

If you're not familiar with it, Lupus is an autoimmune disease where my immune system basically attacks my own body. It's been... a lot.

The diagnosis itself was hard to process, and honestly, I haven't been handling it very gracefully. I've been very angry recently and have had a hard time in general.

I was put on immunosuppressants, and I've been trying to deal with this whole learning curve of figuring out what my "new normal" looks like.

Work fell by the wayside. And that price increase? It just didn't happen. Nothing felt important anymore.

But here's the thing—my life didn't stop because I got this diagnosis, neither did my business and all the beautiful things I've worked hard to build. Despite the anger and the incomprehension, I know I'll get through this with God's help. I have a wonderful support system, particularly my husband Patrick, who never EVER seizes to amaze. And in sharing with the wonderful members in the Creative Lab I've felt supported.

I'm feeling better now.

The medication is starting to work, I've had time to sit with this diagnosis for about a month, and I'm learning to navigate this with more grace (some days better than others 🫠).

And I've realized something important:

This health journey is teaching me that I need to set better boundaries to protect my health. Which means I'm doing things differently from now on.

So here's what's happening instead:

The Creative Briefs price increase is moving to November 1st.

This gives you the entire month of October to lock in the $7/month rate if you haven't already. If you're currently a Creative Briefs member, your rate stays at $7—this increase only affects new members who join after November 1st.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing more about the Challenge Breakdown and why I'm making this change. Not as a scramble or last-minute push, but as a sustainable, new way of to give myself room to not feel well if it happens.

Because taking care of myself means I can keep showing up for you. 💛

October Creative Brief

The latest Creative Brief dropped today, and I'm excited to share what's packed inside! Each Brief comes loaded with research, keywords, and detailed step-by-step instructions for creating the month's focus product.

You'll also get the matching Mini Art Kit (MAK) with every Brief, plus a $5 code to my digital shop so you can continue building your resource library each month.

And of course, our new addition: The Challenge Breakdowns! These have been a massive hit because they give you my interpretation of the research I did, complete with design and marketing suggestions.

Here's a sneak preview:

Because of this exciting new Challenge Breakdown resource (plus all the additional goodies I've been adding over the past few months), Creative Briefs will be increasing from $7/month to $9/month at the end of October.

This is your chance to lock in the original $7/month price forever. Once you join at $7, that's your rate for life—even if I add more value and resources.

If you've been on the fence about joining Creative Briefs, this is your moment. After October 30th, new members will pay $9/month, but you can still secure the founding member rate of just $7/month.

What you're getting for $7/month (soon to be $9 for new members):

  • Monthly curated design brief with researched keywords
  • Matching Mini Art Kit
  • $5 monthly shop credit (that's almost your membership back right there!)
  • Detailed step-by-step creation tutorials
  • NEW: Challenge Breakdowns
  • Forever pricing—your rate never increases

I put everything these Briefs include into Faith's amazing Pricing Power Studio GPT (affiliate link) and this is how it broke this down:

📦 What’s Inside Each Monthly Brief

  1. Creative Brief Spreadsheet (research + trends + keywords)
→ This alone is equivalent to a niche market research pack or trend report.
Similar PLR/market research packs often go for $17–27.
  2. Step-by-step Creation Section
    → Training-style deliverable; think of it as a mini-workshop.
Comparable to templates + tutorials, often $7–17.
  3. Challenge Breakdown PDF (new!)
→ Your interpretation + creative direction + style guidance.
This is strategy + design insight — that pushes it into $17–27 range.
  4. Mini Art Kit (MAK)
→ Digital creative assets — usually sold as packs.
Even small digital art kits often go for $5–9 individually.

💰 Estimated Standalone Value

  • Research Brief: $17–27
  • Step-by-Step Guide Section: $7–17
  • Challenge Breakdown: $17–27
  • MAK: $5–9

👉 Total value per month: $46–80

So at $7/mo (even $9/mo) this is seriously a no-brainer, and this pricing breakdown doesn't even come from me!

Price increases to $9/month for all new members starting November 1st, 2025.

👉🏼 If you are in the Lab, you get Creative Briefs as part of your subscription so you don't have to join now.

New in the Shop

These aren't "new" collections, but they are new to the shop and they're on sale to celebrate. They are two of my favorite collections probably because I love the holidays.

If you are looking to get a big bundle of illustrations, patterns, finished product templates, frames, and all assets (including color palettes) organized for you in Canva, then check out the Holiday Spark Kit. There are 460 unique assets in there and about 900 files in total. It's HUGE and bright and fun, just like the holidays should be.

If you're looking for a big collection that spans Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas, then you want the Holiday Design Pack. It's all sorts of fun with cute, spooky ghosts and pumpkins, to pretty gourds, and fun holiday motifs.

Creative Lab and Briefs subscribers: Use your monthly $5 code on top of the sale price!

What I'm Working On

After I got my diagnosis, I sort of fell into a weird place where I didn't have the desire to do anything but still wanted to be creative. It was strange and also funny to see that at my core, I can't help but make things. One of the things I love doing, is crochet, and I was able to finish my whale project!

I also decided to book a photo shoot to mark this "new" time in my life. I already had plans to rework my website and since I'd never really had professional photos of myself I thought it would be a good time to do it. I want to remember this time as a time where I had to muster even more strength and be proud of it.

Alright, those are some of the things happening in my world. I hope you've had a wonderful week and have something fun and creative planned for the weekend. Hopefully some of these resources will make that process easier and more manageable for you!

Also, thank you for being patient with me and for being here. And if you're someone in my community who's also navigating chronic illness or health challenges—I see you and I'm sending you a HUGE hug. You're not alone! 💛
